summer camp, returned to you

grown-ups are campers too

wild things is a real camp weekend where grown-ups get to play, kids get the classic camp magic, and people without kids are absolutely part of the story. choose an activity, nap through it, dance after dark, or spend an unreasonable amount of time near the snack table.

we have all of camp pagweak to ourselves: the cabins, lodge, field, fire pit and private beach on the pugwash shore.

and your host actually grew up here. andie was a pagweak camper before she was a yoga teacher, and this weekend is her way of hauling everyone she loves back to the place that raised her.

actual beach inventory from past summers: starfish, crabs, one four-leaf clover, the occasional rainbow.

the more wild things that join us, the wilder camp becomes

as camp fills, we pour more back into the experience: better food, paid crew, performers, art, games, equipment, barista mornings, mocktail nights and whatever strange brilliance you all bring.

after dark

the firefly disco

three channels glow across the grounds. dance with the whole camp, drift between experiences, or take your headphones somewhere quiet and make the night your own.

✦ all ages first · grown-up hours later

pick a channel. follow the glow.

one channel stays family-friendly, while the others wander through party music, slow dance, zouk and chill late-night soundscapes.

weather dependent · mood dependent

people want to know what they are saying yes to, so here is the current camp plan. the final schedule may shift with the weather, tides, activity staffing and the mood of the group.

✦ sample schedule · the shape is real, the timing can move

sign up for the activities that call to you, skip what doesn't, and leave room for camp surprises. rest is always a valid plan.

camp moves with the day. weather, tides, staffing and group energy may shift the order or timing. treat this as the shape, not the gospel.

activities are choice-based. morning sign-ups help everyone build a weekend that feels playful rather than over-scheduled.

you can opt out. nap, wander, sit by the fire, read in your bunk or stare dramatically at the harbour. all valid camp programming.

good to know

real camp, clearly explained

what are the accommodations like?

classic shared bunk cabins with a separate washhouse a short walk away. this is charming, uncomplicated summer camp, not a luxury hotel. families and friend groups can request to bunk together, subject to availability.

how does family pricing work?

children who need their own bunk are 50% off. babies and very young children who do not need a separate bunk are free. families can also ask andie about reserving an entire cabin at a special family rate.

is this a kids' camp or an adults' retreat?

both, and neither. all ages are welcome. grown-ups remain responsible for their own children (especially anywhere near the water), and people coming without kids belong here just as much.

are kayaking, climbing and archery guaranteed?

they're on the menu, led by trained staff at camp pagweak's facility. the final lineup depends on weather, tides and staff availability, so nothing with a paddle or a harness is ever a guarantee. there will always be plenty to choose from.

do I have to participate in everything?

no. choose your activities, change your mind, rest, wander or sit by the harbour. participation is always optional.

what is the cancellation and transfer policy?

all sales are final and non-refundable. you can transfer your registration to another person until september 1, 2026 at 11:59pm for a $20 fee. email hello@kuumayoga.com and we'll sort it out.

when do you collect food and cabin information?

after you register, fill in the what's next form with dietary needs, allergies, cabin requests and who's in your crew. packing lists and arrival details land in your inbox closer to camp.

what is the camp culture?

fully sober, smoke-free and vape-free (that last one is camp policy, not just ours), consent-aware and playful. after 11pm, louder social spaces move to silent disco headphones so camp can be lively without becoming chaos soup.

isn't that the first week of school?

depends where you live. new brunswick schools go back after labour day, so nb families miss nothing at all. nova scotia schools do start that thursday, sept 3, so some ns families will roll in thursday evening or after school on friday instead. that works fine. email us and we'll make a late arrival easy.

what about waivers and photos?

everyone signs a participation waiver as part of registering, and a guardian signs for the little wild things. we take photos and video at camp for kuuma's marketing, and your consent matters to us: tell us at check-in if you'd rather stay out of frame and we'll make sure you do.

where is camp?

camp pagweak is at 9395 route 6 in pugwash, nova scotia, about 90 minutes from moncton and a little over two hours from halifax. flying? moncton and halifax airports both work.

why this place

andie grew up here

andie landed at pagweak as a camper in 1998 and basically never left. from 2006 to 2013 she was staff: senior counsellor, tuck shop operator, first aid, programs director, and official designer of the camp t-shirt.

she learned this shoreline barefoot. she knows where the starfish hide at low tide, which bunks creak, and what three nights of campfire songs can do to a person. kuuma exists partly because of what this place taught her.

and it sticks. one of the little campers in these old photos is a koulu yoga school graduate now. this place plays the long game.

bringing kuuma back here is very full-circle, and she is not going to be normal about it.
