✦ WILD THINGS CAMP · SEPTEMBER 3–6, 2026

help build
the magic

A community crew application for the cooks, counsellors, artists, firekeepers, fixers, first responders and background superheroes who want to help turn Camp Pagweak into one very alive little village.

THE CREW EXCHANGE

Passion project, clearly named

This is an unpaid community crew exchange for a one-time camp passion project. It is not being offered as a paid job, and there is no wage or honorarium.

YOU GIVE

care, skill and follow-through

You join the planning process, attend role training in Moncton, arrive ready for your scheduled responsibilities, communicate early and help the whole crew work collaboratively.

YOU RECEIVE

camp is covered

Shared bunk accommodations, all meals, crew training and access to camp programming, evening gatherings and activities whenever you are off duty.

WE PROMISE

a real role and real rest

You will know what you are responsible for before camp. “Volunteer” does not mean being endlessly on call. Each role will have defined work windows and genuine time to enjoy camp.

Apply before buying a ticket.

Andie will review applications, have a fit conversation where needed, and confirm each placement, role and expectations in writing. Exact training dates and shift blocks will be shared before you accept. A crew application is not a camper ticket, and applying does not guarantee placement.

HOW CREW CULTURE WORKS

We train together before we camp together

The crew is part of the experience, not a service team hiding behind it. Before September, we will meet in Moncton for planning and training so everyone understands the camp rhythm, communication channels, safety plans and how to lead with warmth.

01

learn the camp language

Cabin leaders learn campfire songs, simple games, transitions, camper check-ins and how the daily rhythm works.

02

trauma-informed, still playful

We lead through clarity, consent and choice. We can be silly without humiliating people, direct without becoming harsh, and organized without becoming rigid.

03

family setting first

This is a fully sober, family-centred camp. It is not a party job with a bunk attached. Children, safety, connection and community care shape the tone.

04

collaboration over heroics

Ask for help early. Share information. Take breaks. No one earns a camp badge for silently drowning while carrying twelve grocery bags.

THE CREW MAP

Where could you belong?

Choose one primary lane and as many secondary lanes as fit. Multi-skilled camp humans are extremely welcome.

LEADERSHIP + CAMPER CARE

People who can hold the map while everyone else is having an adventure.

1–2 ROLES

check-in + cabin coordinator

Prepares cabin lists, welcomes arrivals, handles bunk questions, tracks who is on site and becomes the friendly home base for practical camper questions.

Best for: organized people who enjoy names, lists and making arrivals feel easy.
1–2 ROLES

camper care + family liaison

Supports parents, helps people navigate needs or concerns, notices who may need information or a softer landing and brings important issues to the director.

Best for: grounded listeners with clear boundaries and good judgment.
FILLED

camp director

Andie holds the overall vision, final decisions, programming direction, staff coordination and the camp-wide weather system.

No application required. She has already been accidentally training for this since 1998.
CABINS + COMMUNITY

The people who turn a bunk building into a den.

UP TO 10

assistant cabin counsellors

Partner with a cabin lead, support check-ins, activities and transitions, and help make sure no one person is carrying the whole cabin experience.

Assigned if interest allows. A lovely first camp-leadership role.
1–2 ROLES

firekeeper + evening host

Builds and safely tends the fire, helps open and close evening gatherings, supports songs and stories, and closes the fire at the agreed time.

Best for: steady night owls who respect fire rules and can hold a gentle room outdoors.
FOOD + BEVERAGE

Because magic becomes noticeably less magical when everyone is hungry.

2–3 ROLES

assistant chefs + kitchen crew

Prep, cook, serve, reset, wash dishes, label food and help the kitchen remain functional instead of becoming a potato-scented avalanche.

Kitchen or hospitality experience is helpful, but reliable hands and a teachable spirit matter too.
2–4 ROLES

barista + mocktail crew

Runs the morning warm-beverage station and transforms it into a playful sober mocktail bar in the evening.

Baristas, café people, mixologists and charming beverage nerds, this is your tiny kingdom.
PROGRAMS + ATMOSPHERE

Bring a real skill, a strange idea or something people will talk about on the drive home.

OPEN CAST

programs staff

Teachers, performers, musicians, dancers, storytellers, actors, artists, craft leaders, outdoor cooks, game makers and curious people with something joyful to share.

Tell us what you could lead, who it is for and what supplies or support you would need.
1–2 ROLES

silent disco + AV tech

Charges, distributes and tracks headphones, manages three audio channels, supports microphones or speakers and keeps the dance hall glowing.

Best for: detail-oriented tech humans who can troubleshoot without entering a personal feud with Bluetooth.
1–2 ROLES

photographer + videographer

Captures the warmth, play and little in-between moments while respecting each camper’s media preferences.

Ideal contribution: a photo collection plus a few short recap videos participants can enjoy after camp.
SAFETY + WATERFRONT

Prepared, calm people who hope their most serious skills never need a dramatic entrance.

2+ SUPPORT

water support + kayak spotters

Supports equipment movement, launch and landing, shore spotting, participant flow and head counts under the waterfront lead’s direction.

Strong swimmers and experienced paddlers are especially useful. This is not a substitute for a certified lifeguard.
1–2 ROLES

first aid + first responder

Helps prepare the response plan, knows where supplies and emergency information live, and can respond calmly to health or safety needs.

Please list current First Aid, CPR, medical, nursing, paramedic or emergency-response credentials.
OPERATIONS + BACKGROUND MAGIC

The invisible hands that stop camp from becoming a beautiful pile of extension cords.

1–2 ROLES

facilities + handy crew

Supports power, lighting, small fixes, safe cord placement, equipment setup and communication with camp staff when a facility issue appears.

Electricians, tradespeople, builders and calm fixers are treasured here.
2–4 ROLES

site care + washhouse crew

Checks shared spaces, washrooms, bins and supply stations; restocks essentials; notices messes early; and helps the property stay comfortable for a full camp of humans.

Best for: practical people who understand that clean bathrooms are a form of community care.
FLOATING ROLE

crew floater

Moves where the day needs help most, covers breaks, delivers messages, supports transitions and keeps small problems small.

Best for: flexible generalists who enjoy variety and do not need a microphone to feel useful.
SLEEPING AT CAMP

Bunk, tent or tiny home on wheels

Crew accommodations and food are covered. Shared bunks are available, or you are welcome to sleep in your own tent, vehicle setup or camper van if Camp Pagweak approves the location and arrangement.

For confirmed crew, bringing your own setup helps the cabin math but does not create a cash payment or upgraded exchange. For regular paid campers, using a tent, vehicle or camper van does not reduce the ticket price. Regular ticket sales remain final, with transfers permitted until September 1, 2026 at 11:59pm for a $20 fee.

OFFICIAL CREW APPLICATION

What do you want to help make possible?

There are no perfect camp résumés. Tell the truth about your skills, capacity and availability. The final button opens a complete email draft to Andie for you to review and send.

01 your crew file
02 your role map Which roles interest you? Choose all that genuinely fit. *

Please choose at least one role.

03 availability + logistics When can you help?
Transportation
Sleeping preference
04 how you work with people
05 crew agreements

Please read these slowly. Clear agreements make camp safer, kinder and more fun. Checking a box means you understand the expectation, not that you promise to be a flawless woodland machine.

Submitting opens a complete email draft addressed to hello@kuumayoga.com. Review it, then press Send in your email app.
